As part of the grant projects, 39 local NGOs funded under the grant contest announced by the Training Center on June 25, 2019 continues the implementation of civic education programs in the regions.

For the promotion of elections and the development of electoral culture among the public, the above-mentioned awareness-raising and training programs for citizens are aimed at the delivery of information around various important topics, among them: the history of elections in Georgia and modern times (state setup and the rule of formation of election bodies), active citizenship and the importance of participation in the governance of the country through elections, electoral rights and exercising these rights, gender equality in elections, inclusive elections (the participation of vulnerable groups in the electoral process), electoral security, etc.

In accordance with the terms of the grant competition, the awareness-raising and trainng projects are implemented through the cooperation of NGOs with the engagement of the Electoral Administration. As part of contribution, members of DECs deliver the following modules to the beneficiaries of grant projects:

  • Guiding principles of democratic electoral process (including, the secrecy of vote);
  • Voters’ participation at various stages of the electoral process and the mechanisms for realizing electoral rights (including checking oneself in the Voters’ List, the rule of using a mobile ballot box, participation in the voting process at an election precinct);
  • The functions and role of the Election Administration and other stakeholders for ensuring voters’ personal data protection;
  • Available channels of communication between the Election Administration and citizens.

To ensure effective contribution, the Training Center developed a practical training program in consideration of the afore-mentioned modules and has trained 90 members of DECs involved as trainers.

Furthermore, as part of the Election Administration contribution, free of charge access to the halls within DEC buildings are provided as a vanue for trainings to be held by NGOs as part of grant projects.
