Implementation of Grant Projects Aimed at the Raising of Electoral Awareness are Started (contest announced on February 6, 2020)

As part of the grants competition announced by the Training Center on February 6, 2020, 30 NGOs funded at the decision of the Competition Committee, started the implementation of projects for the following directions:

  • First direction- Support of political parties’ electoral capacity development;
  • Second direction - Young voters in the electoral process.

21 grant project proposals submitted by NGOs funded at the first direction is aimed at the implementation of such important awareness-raising and training projects that ensure strengthening of human resources for political parties who, according to the legislation, will be authorized by the time of elections to appoint members and/or representatives at district election commissions and precinct election commissions.  

Grant projects will be implemented throughout the country (Tbilisi, Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Samtskhe-Javakhetiი, Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti, Guria and Ajara) from June 15 to September 14, 2020.

Grant project proposals submitted by 9 NGOs funded under the second direction envisage the initiative oriented at informing young voters around the following matters: state setup and the formation of elective bodies in Georgia; accountability between the electorate and elected institutions; guiding principles of a democratic electoral process; the protection of personal data of voters in the elections process; gender equality in elections; inclusive electoral environment; other matters directed towards promotion of elections and enhancing civic responsibility.

Funded grant projects will be implemented in 8 regions (Tbilisi, Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti, Guria and Adjara) during June 15 to August 14, 2020.

Schedule of activities to be carried out on the first stage (June 15 – July 15) is posted at the Projects Map (available in Georgian). Subsequent stage activities will be reflected immediately. Changes made in the Schedule are available as well.
